In the last few days they changed from the August to the December 24 futures contract which distorts how much gold really went up ie the December contract was about $US40-50 higher than the August futures contract.
If you want a better idea how gold futures are progressing go to the WGC Goldhub website and look for this which shows future contracts over various future periods.u
