    oil has its substitutes - gold doesnt.

    try to give a girlfriend/boyfriend/partner a copper ring and see what happens.

    the growing Asian middle class,9 middle east etc.). will be buying progressively more gold .. the demand will not keep up with the supply sooner than 2013.

    We should be in deficit before then.

    And unlike oil - no substitute.
