Good one - we wrote about this a few years ago when China was accumulating gold reserves. The only thing was that they were UNDER reporting the reserves. Some papers suggested that they were preparing for the day when the Yuan would replace the USD as reserve. The Ruskies have also been building up their Au reserves. So maybe that day is getting close.
Note the Saudis have also been suggesting a move away from USD or at least a "mix". Remember what happened to Gaddafi when he suggested it?
