goldbugs convince themselves themselves they're onto a good thing with gold, nothing could be further from the truth. It's confirmation bias, and that's why those that posted here a few years back have made themselves scarce.

Sometimes people move on but we can only speculate as to the reasons why....they may have experienced personal ill health, or decided that posting here is not for them.

And then sometimes people say that their current post will be their last one giving family & work as the reasons....and then come racing back when they think Gold might be on the slide. You then realise that they were stalking the Gold thread the entire time, and the reasons given for their absence were a total sham.

As far as capital gains from houses go, you only realise those gains if you sell. If you are over-exposed and over-extended & the market crashes, the 'gains' prove to be very illusory indeed. We know housing markets can crash as it has happened in places such as the USA and Ireland.
