GATA's accusation that the US has very little gold reserves or none at all stems to their supposebly prooving that the US has shipped large portions of their gold reserves to the UK in the early 70's which was used by the UK to support the plummeting US dollar and some swaps done with Germany in recent years. The US treasury/federal reserve have not responded to enquiries on why they have changed the status of a large amount of their reserves to "Deep Storage". Also keep in mind that the gold reserves in Fort Knox has not been stocktaked for over 30 years! Now, you would think that anyone having this sort of cash would be stocktaking on a regular basis.
