"What recession? Boeing boss predicts 20 years of growing aircraft orders as Asia takes to the skies

A sustained and dramatic surge in demand for new aircraft is flying in the face of the worldwide recession, according to aerospace giants Boeing and Airbus.
Boeing boss Jim McNerney told Financial Mail ahead of this week’s Farnborough Air Show that he predicted a five per cent increase in demand every year until 2031.
And he revealed that Boeing would to expand production by 30 per cent over the next three years to meet the increasing demand.
Orders for aircraft - including the Boeing 787 - will rise despite the financial crisis, McNerney predicted.
He said plane makers would deliver about 34,000 new aircraft valued at £2.9?trillion over that period.
The growth in demand would come mainly from Asia where customers will be looking for 12,300 new aircraft.
This is good news for Britain where the civilian aerospace industry is also beating the recession. ..
