First of all, i never said they were slaves, those are your words, i just mentioned it in relation to the wage in general. But let me explain my point of view.

the $15 is where I live aprox 12€. After taxes i got 7€ left of that per hour. Workweak is 40 hours, so i got 280€ p/w or aprox €1100 per month which almost the same as social security check here if you dont have a job. So yes, to do hard work for that in the burning sun for that wage (like farmwork in Cali) is not a jackpot by any means imho. But i suppose in the States it is different, i dont know, but please dont act like 15$ pretax is a "good" wage in the developed world and like i said before, i pay my cleaninglady 18$ p/h and thats the average here. So by all means, i also wouldnt come out of my bed for a 15$ per hour job.

i do agree though to a large extend that a big part of getting a job is attitude (like standing besides the road with a sign), but not all of it. If those believes makes me a socialist in your eyes, so be it. And btw, whats wrong with being a socialist?? Even if I would know what you exactly mean by the definition, i have always found it hard to see how being social is an insult... Anyways, I do love however that "being an american" is considered an insult nowadays.
