America owes $30 trillion in federal debt. Even at 3.03% interest - the current yield on the 10-year treasury - that's $909 billion/year in interest alone.
For comparison, the 2022 "defense" budget - just over half the discretionary budget - is $782 billion.
We are either going to 1) default on the debt, or 2) inflate that $30 trillion to smithereens. Choice #1 is only hypothetical IMO, but in either case, the US dollar loses a lot of it's value (or all of it).
