Oh please, spare me from any more nonsense about inflating the debt away. Where did this dribble bubble originate?

The US issues bonds for a fixed rate but also has a bi-annual (that's each 6 months for some of you) inflation adjustment to the interest rate. So, the higher the inflation rate goes then the higher goes the repayments.

The FED's task is not to protect the sharemarket. The FED's priority 1 task is to protect the US economy and its sovereign currency; though Powell and the FED were late to remember that till March of this year. The FED has to get the inflation rate down in order to get the US Govt's interest payments down, otherwise the future cost to service all existing and future bonds will be increasingly devastating to the US economy. You do not inflate your way out of that problem.

That is why Powell is saying there is no compromise to bringing inflation down. They have to keep hiking interest rates till they know inflation is receding; regardless of the pain along the way; it's to save the US economy. Rate hikes apparently take a while to work through so I'm hoping December/January will see a reprieve so they can assess how it is working. The first FED meet in February 2023 should be telling !

I won't consider buying into RMS or gold till December at earliest, which is slightly later than I indicated in my 3/7/22 post.
