Gents,
Despite living in the Goldfields for three years now, I have been asking some of the old boys on site about the larger cycle of mining in the region. They tell me that what often occurs after a cooling period in the gold price, is the exiting of larger mutli national miners and the reemergence of the Australian miners. They are able to operate with a lower A$, as they are contained within the country and therefore the currency, insulated if you will.
NST, SLR and SAR are established along with Metals X and Phoenix are now all rising up in the region as major Australian based gold producing players.
What are peoples opinions on this idea of consolidation going forward into 2015, any views on possible M&A and thoughts of further foreign backed exits with the ever decreasing dollar?
Regards,
Jake
