"Is MSM losing its grip?"
In more ways than one.
It long ago lost its ability to broadcast honestly and just parrots the White House, US Fed, Wall Street, etc.
It's also lost its grip on the confidence of millions of people.
And this goes for Australian media as well, both public and private, which take their fake news feeds from the "bought" US, UK and European networks.

Take for example the fuss about Senator John McCain's brain cancer story. Aside from the fact that McCain means nothing to we Australians, our networks deem that this is "news" for us. McCain is a collaborator with ISIS, there are photos of him with them. Of course ISIS is funded and armed by the US and McCain was just doing his job, spreading death and destruction in the Middle East. Many consider him a war criminal.
It's enough to make me puke.
