Hi @jd3 ... respectfully, I think it's a little naive to believe we aren't printing money here in oz. We create money by borrowing it into existence through the sale of bonds (like everywhere else). If you have a look at the reserve bank's balance sheet, it has expanded from $177 Billion on Jan 1st to currently $282 Billion. Obviously nowhere near as large relative to some other countries, but inflationary none-the-less.
I think it's also been so long since we have had a recession here in Australia that there's too great a fear of the negatives. This part of the business cycle needs to happen and has been artificially delayed. Bad business decisions need to be cleared. Short term pain for long term gain. IMO
