Just like the fund managers!! As long as they go down with everyone else it's fine. It's definitely not collective incompetence. Just unfortunate events that noone could possibly have anticipated occurred.
But if a fund manager makes the wrong call different from the herd - watch out, he's incompetent.
It's worth noting that in 1979-1980 in the space of seven months gold went from US$240 to US$880. Gold is again set to surge by hundreds of per cent.
