Both are possibilities.
If you have just suffered the physiological impact that middle class America has been through; falling house prices; falling stock prices; people losing jobs....would you suddenly go out and buy things on credit because the banks are offering cheap money? Put yourself in that scenario for a moment.
I would probably lean to the side of deflation.
