Had a qucik question if anyone has ever found gold around weathered conglomerate beds.
I recently visited an area that had thick layers of permian fluvial or beach conglomerates unconformably overlying volcanics.
Noticed pockets of it had a heap of what looked like broken down vein quartz along with a a variety of volcanic rocks (maybe olivine dolerites and basalts) . Its not an area noted for gold, but I though it looked interesting enough to check out. What is nice is that the conglomerates outcrop at the top of a ridge, so maybe the channels downstream might be a better place to search. Was thinking it may be prospective for a few types of gemstones too.
