thor you don't have talk to me as if I was not aware of how the price of gold has moved over a very long period of time.. I will repeat initial portion of this thread which i started.......
"after looking up the both long term (over 50 years) and shorter term charts I don't think you can come to any definite conclusion on that at all..
the very long term chart shows a spike in @ 1782, and the more current spike a couple of years ago @ about 1800..... this chart also suggest that we are" "possibly" still on the downward leg of the second spike - its not definite that the price of gold should continue up from here".......
I have put out there the directions that the gold price has moved over certain periods of time.......they can be described as trends - for you to dismiss them as not being trends is just not recognizing what is front of you......may I ask do you have and use a proper charting program - it does not sound as if you do........ i have and its on live data feed for the asx and many other indicies and products....... trends can be produced over any period of time you like - 2 weeks, two months, two years or twenty years, ........ they are used regularly by traders in the finance industry for trading all manner of products including commodities - for you to say that they are not, or to refer to the use trends as pointless is again just not correct...
your comments from our discussion were - "My analysis shows it's in an uptrend and not just by drawing lines"...... I asked you a simple question - ..."over what period of time do you base this.... ????? '
thor you still haven't answered the question - ie if you say that your analysis shows that it is in uptrend then you must have a start and finish point......
and by the way when I stated that my observations were that the POG might still on the down leg of the recent gianormous spike - at that time the price of gold was 1300 even ---- so lets take it from here...... that means with the current POG being at @ 1280 there has been a depreciation of 1.5%......
I am happy to be corrected or to be proved wrong in my opinions - that way I learn,....... but thor I would appreciate it if you would base your argument on fact rather than making up stuff to just to prove what i say is wrong...... it does ot help the quality of the argument..
