gold is worthless

and I'm not joking about this - I mean think about it - your a developing nation that needs to build - so what part of a new factory needs to be built with gold??

for my money as a growing nation, I would want to be accumulating forward contracts for every material needed to build that factory - an assortment of all the necessary metals and concretes - iron and all that is mixed with it seems pretty important for a start

at the end of the day people don't grow from gold - they grow from what builds a nation - a nation that grows gets wealthy because it produces stuff that other nations buy

gold is an old luxury - having the smarts to build a nation with the right materials is genius

oh... and you can't feed your people gold - but you can feed them jobs by giving them a factory
