You're exactly right. I haven't run the numbers, but you would expect that the share prices of Newcrest, Lihir, even early PRODUCERS would have a much stronger correlation with the gold price than CQT's or especially long-shot wannabee producers'. Don't forget, though, it's not just the instantaneous gold price that matters, but peoples' expectations of the future gold price that influences their view of the value of a producer.

Between the PFS and their cash in the bank (not enough to DO the project, but more than enough to keep the lights on, which by itself is a real struggle for some junior explorers nowadays), CQT looks more and more likely to be an emerging producer, therefore its share price should be increasingly related to the gold price.
