There are tooooooooo many $US out there. Asia has tried diversifying into the EURO but that has just ended because Europe is not strong enough at the moment to take much more investment. They may take up more gold, they are searching out investments in raw materials ,mines etc, but basically they are too efficient at manufacturing and creating surplus dollars. The US needs to devalue, or China revalue, or........Asia to spend money and effort on their own people. Even then they may be too dynamic to soak up all their surpluses. The last weapon is INFLATION, always works!!!
