It might matter, methinks. I get a bit suspicious when Obama gets publicity from the Democrats controlled media for contacting Macron. The media has the power to frame public perception and engineer priorities.
Q1: O is not president anymore, so why the limelight?
Q2: what role does an ex US president have in so much as to presume to offer support for a sovereign country's election candidate? Can just imagine ex Chinese or Russian presidents publicly supporting Trump during the US election campaign.
Q3: is he trying to make US international politics more difficult for Trump? There are several political analyses about O's actions during his last few months in the WH, despite him publicly stating that he supports a smooth transition for Trump.
Q4: is banker GS pals with ex banker Macron and vice versa? Last I read, GS bankers were interested in securing roles in Brazilian government. Getting a foothold into French politics would have significant implications for pog.
