All things considered, a loss early on is not so bad. It will arm you with a healthy dose of fear, which will prevent you from making mistakes at a later stage.

I'm sure BDR will continue it's upward march and before long you will have recovered all your losses and will be sitting on a tidy profit.

@V* - your mate will have to be careful, opening with a 37% odd gain in a few weeks with his first stock will be really tough to follow up. I'm sure you've explained to him that he's been exceptionally lucky and that the stock market doesn't usually give up these levels of gains willingly. I'm sure you'll continue to steer him in the right direction.

PS : You mentioned in a previous post that you live in Canberra, I'm actually moving there in the next 6 months or so, it's actually a very beautiful city and looks like a nice place to live if you like an active lifestyle.
