IEconomists are like accountants, excellent at pointing out what has just happened. Political animals are worse - they'll say one thing and do the opposite.

it certainly would be interesting to observe economic effects over 100 years if we took the war machine away from the USA, turkey, Israel, China. But it aint' gunna happen.

Lets leave the other economic benefits from warefare alone too shall we, benefits such as the acceleration of technological innovation -Boeing 747, the computer, being simple examples.
