a scrip bid gives them participation in the upside of the OBM growth assets, provides them with greater liquidity to buy/sell, bigger company gives easier weightings in fund and diversification …. And it finally crystallises a very handsome profit for the fund managers (performance bonuses) that have persevered with that investment for that last 10 years.
if I was a betting person … in the current gold market … I reckon they would rather GMD scrip than cash (depending on the terms)
