    I would love to see the 1979 performance repeated ASAP but the point I'm making hopefully is we don't know where we are exactly.

    SiameseParrott has been making the 1979 comparison for years now, that all you have to do is sit tight and gold stock investors will become filthy rich next year. Worse, he's been saying that gold stocks are a flight to safety.

    The reality has been very different for most ASX gold equities in this bull market, particularly versus bullion.

    BTW, courtesy of Steve Saville, here's the performance of the BGMI through the 1970s divided by the gold price... even in 1979, gold outperformed the overall stock index.
