Not saying he is right but Jim Rogers also only buys the top 3 or 4 stocks in the sector he is focussing on (or just buys the commodities not the stocks). I think his logic is that if the sector moves like he thinks it will, that will be on the back of the movement by the biggest 3 or 4 stocks, not on what the tiddlers do. From meomory, he steers clear of the juniors as he thinks that they have a tendancy to move contrary to or independently of what the sector is doing.
FWIW - I think junior goldies are right out there in terms of risk so diversification is a prudent measure.
