They can't because there are too many derivatives and it is too wide spread.
Any faintest sign and the US gold will flee their country to be stored somewhere else.
Bush wil be good for gold but apart from that.....
I don't believe that Gold can act as the prime currency, but the feeling is increasing that it can act as a secondary one.
That is what many Europeans think having seen those worthless US dollars coming down on them like rain.
We 'll see what the discussions about disposal of Reserve Bank gold will lead to, next month.
I am thinking that the Europeans will be in the negative or they will word the document so as to be useless.
