The price of gold has not decoupled from the US dollar.
It's not heavily used in industry compared to other commodities.
It doesn't pay interest like cash so no point holding it.

Never really understood why australian gold companies SP moved relative to the US gold price since the gold price in AU terms has been flatlined for yonks.
