Below is a chart of the price of gold vs the DJIA.
It's interesting to note that gold price was forming a beautiful rounded bottom during 99/00 whilst at the same time the DJIA was forming an enormous rounded top.
There was terrorism or any talk of war during this basing period for gold.
It's also interesting to note the very high negative correlation between the performance of gold and the DJIA since this period. The rise in the price of gold, and the fall in the DJIA are almost mirror images of one another...
