I started to watch that Schiff video recently posted. I lasted about 4 minutes into 22 minutes. How anyone can take that delivery style seriously is beyond my comprehension. The subject matter is very serious, what underpins an economy, and in the case of Schiff he would have everyone believe it is gold (or it should be gold).
The point I switched off is when he got out a Mastercard and said it is made of gold (right at the start actually!). The interviewer then proceeded to fondle it like it was an object of intimate desire - even dropping in a swear word for dramatic affect! Pure salesmanship, create an emotional attachment, complete with sound effects, to draw in the buyer. This is travelling salesman talk - evocative language to draw in the listener. It really is actually comedy gold.
Compare that style of interview with a serious talk on the subject. Real analysts might come across as boring but they leave out the showmanship (not selling anything) and consider probabilities of different scenarios. They allow their analysis to deliver an overarching view on the state of play and potential direction.
He is not on his own, there are others that think they are on a stage when talking about a serious topic.
Be wary, nothing is by accident showman usually follow a script!
I have a general rule, whenever someone is preaching soapbox style with emotive language ignore it. Or watch/listen and have a good belly laugh!
