J, You are only partly right. The ventilation shaft was necessary to pump in clean air supply to the deeper mine areas and allow stoping to continue to even greater depths. The M2 shute is narrow and will be mechanically mined which means taking barren rock as well as high grade ore. The diluted grade has been noted in the Reserves and can be handled by the new Grind Mill. The M2 shute is showing higher grades as it deepens but not enough to offset the M1 downgrade. It has never been satisfactorily explained why their Reserve modeling was caught out. But with that said I feel shore that they will not be caught twice in this matter. DOM has always said that the M1 [and now the M2] shute has pulsed different grades of gold at more or less predictable intervals. So we are on tenderhooks waiting for oregrades to return to "normal".
