They are all still holding their paper money which is now worthless due to inflation.

Do you really think that people 'stack' their paper dollars in the basement and leave them there for decades on end?

Or maybe do you think it's possible that they invest them in real estate, the stock market or even interest bearing deposits in the bank? And make money on the returns?

Gold 'stackers' on the other hand are losing big time hanging onto a declining chunk of metal that has no dividend, and there's more of it available each year as new technology locates the stuff and digs it out of the ground.
