He certainly was a hoot. It seems he lost it in the end; I remember his last posts were just a bunch of random derogatory sprays at other posters and I got the impression something in life was going wrong for him and he was venting on HC.
You're certainly exploring some rabbit holes here re paid trolls. Maybe DrWho and Skol are gathering goldbuggery intel and selling it. How do we know you're not part of the syndicate? You could be an informer inciting us against Skol as part of the algorithm.

In all honesty I can't say I've come across evidence of paid trolls on forums but I've never looked. However I expect it happens based on the business prospect alone: pay a troll to generate traffic > more traffic means higher prices for advertising. Besides it's not a new business model, we're all trolled by the media en masse, and have been for decades, all in the name of money. Good news stories don't sell.
