I reckon the Fed uses proxies to buy stocks and hold the markets up.
But today markets plunged so much that they convinced themselves that the Fed would not be able to raise interest rates so the stocks when back up again, and by so much that they finished green which will encourage the Fed to go ahead and raise interest rates. Phew.
