Actually it's an American adage, so tax is not applicable. Maybe it's to do with the upcoming summer season there. I don't know.
But I think you may have missed my point...we're not talking about the ASX here:
"this adage is typically (if not exclusively) used for common stocks, since that's the only market with which most people (viewers) are familiar."
And gold stocks - for obvious reasons - seem to have a life of their own (even tho they are ASX traded).
