    Depositing money in a term deposit is not investing in short term bonds.

    Investing in a Nikkei fund is not going short on gold.

    Reinvesting distributions increases the cost base of the underlying investment therefore affects the overall return on your investment.

    Financial lingo or understanding is clearly not one of his strengths.
