I don't think anyone believes that markets are alway sensible.
It is important to remember that most trader (even the banksters) don't really know what is going in any market, but they will rarely admit their ignorance. They will repeat what everyone else is saying because this will minimise (through sharing) the embarrassment and reputation hit if they turns out that they are wrong.
