Nothing has changed and won't change as long as there is no controls limiting the amount that can be borrowed and spent i.e. the fiat monetary system. It'll only get worse and all of these fixes you mention are bandaids to cover an untreatable festering wound, designed to make it look like something is being done.

I don't think growth will save us either, growth has been brought forward by borrowing over the last 40-50 years, and now it's time to pay it all back. I don't know how long the party can keep on kicking on but when it stops there will be a massive hangover.
