What I do understand is that the stock market has gone up a lot and gold hasn't. And that chart doesn't include dividends either which if compounded would have sent the DJIA up exponentially more.

Since that chart was produced, gold has declined and the DJIA has continued up.

The only thing that hasn't beaten gold is cash, property absolutely smashes gold, and it's got an income as well. I've already compared a property I've owned for 30 years with gold, lucky I was smart enough to buy property instead of fool's gold.

Anyone stockpiling gold thinking it's a retirement fund is deluding themselves.
