I could be considered a precious metal bug, I suppose. I have a mix of physical and paper gold and silver.

Currently I have a very conservative investment portfolio which is:

~20% gold, ~20% silver, ~20% fixed income securities, ~20% equity securities and ~20% cash. I use my available cash to buy in and out of equities depending upon the market dynamics and the opportunities available. So my portfolio at times will be ~20% gold, ~20% silver, ~20% fixed income and ~40% equities.

If there is a serious financial crisis, I may sell down a portion of my gold and silver positions to buy equities and real estate that are pennies on the pound, so to speak.
