I agree someone owning those bricks of gold, for arguments sake 4 bricks, however they won't get poor. Those bricks, unlike some companies stock value, will never be worth zero.

Over time they will typically buy what they can buy now, again for arguments sake, a nice property in North Sydney. There will be times when their value will be a little less than that property and times when they will be more. Equivalent cash held will fall behind.
