Timber is correct. PE and CAPE ratios have no correlation with market or stock tops and bottoms. If you had been in a market conference in 1983 and proclaimed that stocks would hit PE’s of 44 you would have been laughed out of the room. And you would have missed one of the greatest bull runs ever.
I take no notice of PE’s or the CAPE ratio when selecting stocks or assessing a market.
