Incidentally, it seems to me the CAPM is purely academic and hardly useful for coalface valuations. The RM in the calculation is wide open to interpretation and then some adjust again for specific risk. I find the expected return rate it spits out is then considered against other factors and adjusted again to give a discount rate in calculating value.

Gold is too hard to value, has no value! It is just trying to figure out correlations and a big dose of gut feeling, I feel. My gut feeling is we are on the cusp of a breakout above 1373. Though of course it will be highly volatile as it always is. Perhaps initially following equities down. Clearly the $ correlation is the strongest immediate indicator.
