But banking crises are not statistically random events. The 2008 GFC did not pass without a major regulatory response from global prudential regulators that addressed the issue of insufficient bank capital, in such a way that has systematically made banks less profitable and much safer.

While the US congress has recently eased banking regulation introduced by Dodd-Frank in 2010, that is window dressing compared with the direct out of pocket impose of the Basel upgrades.


So if you are looking for another crisis of the proportion of 2008 to make you precious mental investment perform, you are going to be in for a disappointment.
