All good trent, but what about the geopolitical side of the picture. Greece and Argentina are inconsequential in this regard. But Turkey is pivotal . A member of NATO very upset with the US and The EU on a number of levels, and making serious noises about dumping the dollar and joining the BRICS group. I'm no expert, but it is my guess that Putin has told Turkey that a precondition to buying Russia's S400 surface to air defence system, and to joining BRICS, would be withdrawal from NATO. It's pretty hard to underestimate the ramifications for the West if such a development were to occur. That makes Trump's offhand treatment of Turkey very unwise. He was hoping Turkey would "buckle" but there's no guarantee of that. Turkey now finds friends to the north and east who are far more cooperative and friendly. 23.

If Erdogan is dumb enough to try this (I think he is) he is about to find out how much pain the USA can inflict on you if you cross it while you are running a massive current account deficit and owe the foreign banks hundreds of billion in US$. Suicide for the Turkish economy.
