The point you are trying to make is the value of gold will go down because the value of survival basics will go up. Gold value will go up in relation to the USD but so will most things.

i agree in a revolution meltdown crisis this may be the case where civilization as we know it changes. But with a half sophisticated society there will be a medium of exchange, and when there is only so much gold to go around the value of gold would need to compensate.
