I "traded" currencies (very briefly) about 20 years ago and very quickly worked out who was scamming who!

Even if you were lucky enough to find an honest broker (a rare feat) - an "outsider" retail trader effectively is only used to provide the liquidity for the big boys to play. A silly man's game....

I don't see the metals as being "currency" ..... well, not at this stage of the game anyway.  To me, they are still only "capital". But...when they do become "currency"...look out!!
