Time period... How about post dot com bubble or post 2008 sub prime bubble. That's just for this century.
It's all about basic economics and the cycles of different asset/investment classes? Real estate booms and bust, securities boom and bust, commodities boom and bust, all mostly with a long term uptrend.
Anyway respect & understand your opinion to steer clear of gold, just don't agree with it. Good luck with your investments.
