A house or car has more functionality than gold. Gold is just another form of wealth conversion “store of wealth” for lazy money that don’t need a return. I am not at the stage where I’m worried enough about our monetary system to start prepping for Armageddon.
An investment is all about grappling uncertainty of the future. The uncertainty of not knowing how markets would pan out. Ask the goldbugs pilling in from 2011 how they feel interim 50% haircut? Manipulation is the first excuse like every stock discussion on this forum that is disappointing.
