Skol usually compares Gold to the DJIA or S&P 500 which is hardly comparing Gold against a ‘hand picked stock’.
Good luck with your COL or WOW shares which should be ok. Personally, I’m a little negative on these two stocks in the longer term. Australia is unusual in that 2 supermarkets dominate the sector. This has resulted in much higher margins than in the US or UK. Given the speed at which the Retail sector is changing it may be that those high margins cannot be mainted into the future. It seems quite possible that today is as good as it gets for WOW and COL....
