Pick your timeframe. 1980 to present day, a coefficient of -0.65. While less strong that the recent -0.90 anything to the right of -0.50 (or the left of +50) is a strong correlation.
Gold tends to move opposite to interest rates. Interest rates will rebound and when they do gold will plummet - very fast.
